Teams assemble at the American and Asia/Pacific Venues to tackle Mission 7

At both the American venue in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and the Asia/Pacific venue in Yantai, Shandong, PRC, collegiate teams gathered to compete in the inaugural year of IARC's Mission 7. While no one was able to demonstrate the entirety of the behaviors required to complete Mission 7, several teams demonstrated autonomous interaction with the ground robots, herding them towards the green edge of the 20m x 20m arena. The team at the American Venue demonstrating the most capability in the arena this year was École Polytechnique de Montréal whose robot autonomously tracked and interacted with target ground robots while avoiding moving obstacles. The University of Michigan and the Southern Polytechnic State University teams also demonstrated flight. Two teams at the Asia/Pacific venue demonstrated autonomous flight and interaction with the ground robots.
